Season 1 Is Here: Monthly Giveaways Launch, Four New Tracks Coming to Drift Derby
We're back from a short break after the Genesis Pack mint, and it's time to get back into the swing of things — with some big news for the Drift Derby community.
First, an honest update. The Genesis mint didn't perform the way we'd hoped. As a result, we're slowing down active development on the game while we work on securing additional funding to support Drift Derby's future. We know this isn't the update anyone wants to hear, but we'd rather be upfront with our community than go quiet. In the meantime, we're doubling down on rewarding the players and collectors who've backed us from the start.
Introducing Season 1 of the Monthly Giveaways
Starting now, Genesis NFT holders can earn real rewards every month through two brand-new leaderboards: Ranked and Collection.
Ranked Leaderboard
Your Ranked score is based on your performance in ranked matches — specifically, the average of your placements across your last 25 races. To be eligible for Ranked rewards each month, you need to:
- Own a Genesis NFT, and
- Complete at least 5 ranked races that month
Collection Leaderboard
Your Collection score is based on the cars in your wallet. Every part is scored by rarity:
- Common parts: 20 points
- Uncommon parts: 67 points
- Epic parts: 167 points
- Legendary parts: 250 points
- 1-of-1 Genesis cars: 2,000 points
To be eligible for Collection rewards, you just need to own at least 1 Genesis NFT — no race requirement.
Both leaderboards now live in an updated in-game leaderboard menu, so you can track your Ranked and Collection scores at any time.
How rewards are paid out
On the 1st of every month, we evaluate both boards and pay out the top 50% of eligible players or the top 50 players — whichever group is larger — from each leaderboard's pool. Rewards are distributed automatically via smart contract, straight to winning players' wallets.
Each pool is funded by 50% of that month's revenue from in-app purchases, NFT royalties, and NFT sales. To make sure there's always something worth playing for, Mixed Pixel Studio will top up any month's pool to a minimum of $50.
Four New Tracks Are Coming
Alongside Season 1, we're adding four new tracks to Drift Derby. Two have already been revealed — the Island and Jungle tracks — with two more reveals coming soon as we head toward public release in the next week or two.
